We meet every Wednesday 1.00pm – 4.00pm from September to May in the Westmorland Room at the Arnside Educational Institute.

​

The level of skills ranges from beginners to more experienced in various stitching genres including sewing, quilting, embroidery, cross stitch, crochet, knitting and more.

 

Stitchers bring their own projects to the sessions. 

 

Each term we have a different optional project. Instructions and tuition are provided and some basic sewing essentials are provided. The guidance and advice is provided by experts in the group.  Our philosophy is to share ideas and help each to develop / improve on skills.

You don’t have to stay for the whole session and you can arrive at any time to suit your other commitments. 

 

The total cost for the 12 autumn sessions is £25.00

The project for this term is to learn a variety of embroidery stitches:

1. Lines - stem; cable; back; running; couching.

2. Loops - chain; lazy daisy; magic chain; heavy chain; twisted chain

3. Blanket - open; closed; loose bar; wheel

4. Circles - woven; spiders web; cup

5. Knots - french; bullion; pistil; danish; colonial 

6. Cross - cross; thorn; herringbone

7. Woven picots

8. Feather - fishbone; feather; fly; cretan
