Who We Are...

Arnside Educational Institute is a registered charity whose stated objective is to facilitate the enhancement of life for the inhabitants of Arnside and the surrounding area.
It achieves this by:
1. Promoting the education of people residing in the Parish and surrounds of Arnside village.
2. Providing a building and facilities for:
- Meetings, Lectures and Classes
- Other recreational and leisure time activities
The AEI is administered by a formal Management Committee, which, under the terms of a governance document, controls the finances and assets of the AEI in order to achieve the objectives outlined above.
In practice the EI provides facilities for members and guests to hire and use rooms for recreational, educational and occasional business activities through “Member Groups” (those who are all members of the AEI) and “User Groups” (those who regularly hire a room but are not necessarily AEI members).
Such hiring arrangements are subject to the AEI hiring conditions which must be agreed in advance.
Under the general remit, the AEI also administers the funds provided by private donations from ex residents of the village, Joyce Nicholson and Margaret Jackson.
The “Margaret Jackson Fund” is specifically provided for educational expenses to help disadvantaged students from Parish of Arnside. This fund is ring fenced for that purpose and is administered by the AEI committee.
The Joyce Nicholson fund is invested with the income used for the upkeep of the Institute buildings.
