Educational Bursary

Early in 2006 the E.I. agreed to award an Annual Educational Bursary (value £500) to a part time or full time student on a course leading to a degree or similar qualification and pursuing a special topic or project of particular relevance to Arnside and/or it’s immediate surroundings.

In close collaboration with the AONB Landscape Trust, which had established a similar model, the scheme was established and Miss Caroline Jewell was awarded the first Bursary. Her dissertation involved assessing the effects of scrub clearance on Arnside Knott and she was awarded her M.A. in Ecology and the Environment.
